Upea Puu
From product idea to real market – from design and prototypes to ecommerce and a trade fair stand.

Starting point
Can a product idea become something people want to buy?
Upea Puu started from a wish to design and make wooden products with clear form and honest materials. Before committing to production, we needed to find out whether buyers were genuinely interested.
Challenge
Physical products need materials, manufacturing and stock – mistakes are expensive.
Hypothesis
Once the product can be seen and touched, customer reactions show whether to continue.
The Aulis Loop in practice
How the experiment progressed
01
Idea
Product concept and audience: what kind of home and user the product is for.
02
Create
Product design, 3D models, technical drawings and prototypes. Then brand, ecommerce and marketing.
03
Test
The products were taken to a physical market test at Habitare, where people could see and try them.
04
Learn
Direct customer feedback showed what sparked interest and what should change.
05
Decide
Based on the feedback, the products and offering were iterated.
What happened next
Development continues based on the feedback. Key lesson: take a physical product to customers as early as possible – as a visualisation, a prototype and finally something they can buy.
