From a Photograph to a Pilot Batch of 50 Wooden Stamp Handles
What does it take when a customer has a photograph, a few lines of instructions and needs 50 finished products? Aulis combined 3D design, CNC machining and handwork into one delivery.
Design → Manufacturing
A physical pilot batch of 50
Photo and instructions → 3D model → Manufacturing → 50-piece pilot batch

Starting point
The customer commissioned a pilot batch of 50 wooden stamp handles. The source material was a photograph and brief written instructions. No production drawings were available. The original customer photograph is not shown here; the CAD images illustrate the design work by Aulis.
Design
Aulis interpreted the source material and modelled the stamp handle in 3D, taking its geometry and practical manufacturability into account.
Manufacturing
Aulis made the 50-piece pilot batch itself, combining CNC machining and handwork. One provider was responsible for both design and manufacturing.
Result
The source material became a physical pilot batch of 50 pieces. The case shows how a limited manufacturing task can move from a photograph to a tangible product without ready-made technical plans.
What can customers learn?
Starting product development or a manufacturing experiment does not always require a complete design package. Aulis can help define the solution, create a manufacturable model and make a limited batch.
